100 Mile Club

August 2017

Each year, the 4th grade students at Sibley Elementary School set a goal of running and/or walking 100 miles during the school year at recess times.  Students walk/run a quarter-mile route, keeping track of the number of laps completed daily.  Progress is tracked and monitored on classroom iPads.  Through this program, teachers hope to foster lifelong fitness, help students set long-term goals, and build self-esteem through hard work.  Success is celebrated on a Wall of Fame, along with a monthly breakfast served by the 4th grade teachers.
