Grant Application Opens Fall 2017

Do you have a good idea that would make a difference for you and/or other youth in our community? If yes, then you can apply to YouthBank for a grant of up to $5,000 to help make it happen!

Next grant round opening in the fall of 2017. Check back for more details.

Application Themes

Last spring the two different themes focused on empowering youth through:

  • Healthy Living
  • Social Change

Basic Grant Requirements+

  • Fits within Northfield YouthBank’s grant themes.
  • Youth-led: This means a group of at least 3 young people have the idea, apply for the money and make it happen.
  • Clear and realistic plan to meet a need or issue you are concerned about.
  • Good value for the money.
  • Has positive impact on young people in our community.
  • Each grant must use a minimum of $1,000.

Project Examples+

Some examples of possible projects in this focus area would be:

  • Establishing community gardens and programs that bring different groups together to work in them.
  • Developing a mentoring program that works across ages and/or cultures.
  • Instituting a social media campaign that raises awareness of mental health issues in youth.

Last year a few of the projects we funded were: The Red Yarn Stories event, buying a new refrigerator and oven for expansion of the Area Learning Center’s food recovery program, funds to help build a recording studio at the Key, and funding a scholarship pool for the TORCH Youth Advisory Board to distribute to youth to pursue extracurricular activities.

The more your idea fits the grant requirements, the better the chance you will have of receiving funding.
