Rice County Chemical & Mental Health Coalition (RCCMHC) Support Specialist

Approximately 20 hours per week; could potentially be combined with additional duties if more hours per week are desired

Summary

The Rice County Chemical & Mental Health Coalition (RCCMHC) Support Specialist will manage all logistics of trainings offered through the RCCMHC, as well as support other key activities of the RCCMHC.

Tasks

  • Provide support to the Coalition staff team to coordinate Youth & Adult Mental Health First Aid training opportunities in Rice County (including lining up certified instructors, preparing training materials, coordinating logistics, and recording evaluations)
  • Organize alcohol beverage server trainings (including lining up certified instructors, preparing training materials, coordinating logistics, and recording evaluations)
  • Manage logistics of annual Coalition-supported events, including the Elected Officials meeting in January and the Recovery Fest celebration in September
  • Implement all aspects of the Prevention Champions promotion, nomination, selection and award process
  • Assist with grant record-keeping
  • Other duties as emerge

Required Qualities 

  • 2-5 years of experience in coalition building and/or event planning
  • Knowledge in the fields of asset-based youth development, public health, mental well-being, and/or chemical health
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Google Suite
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and troubleshoot issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
  • Capable of completing work on time in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to travel throughout Rice County
  • Willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative
  • Maintenance of a cell phone is an expectation of employment

Preferred qualities 

  • Familiarity with organizations and resources in Rice County
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali

Hours of work

Approximately 20 hours per week (regular weekly work hours may be negotiated based on qualified candidate’s availability); could potentially be combined with additional duties if more hours per week are desired

Reports to

The RCCMHC is a program of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) and is overseen by the Advisory Board.
