Growing Up Healthy Assistant Coordinator

Established in 2007, Growing Up Healthy works with partner organizations and immigrant and refugee families to transform communities through cultivating neighborhood leadership, fostering social connectedness, and collectively advocating for change within neighborhoods and systems.  Growing Up Healthy seeks an Assistant Coordinator to help support the Coordinator and the Neighborhood Teams in carrying out this work.



Tasks for the Growing Up Healthy Assistant Coordinator include:

  • Assist with the recruitment and support of Neighborhood Leaders in Rice County mobile home parks and apartment complexes
  • Assist the Neighborhood Leaders and Coordinator with the development and implementation of neighborhood-based programming and initiatives
  • Conduct annual listening sessions with those living in Growing Up Healthy’s neighborhoods to hear about issues they face and goals they have, as well as to provide information on Growing Up Healthy
  • Prepare for and conduct Neighborhood Leader meetings
  • Assist with the implementation of parent engagement and education strategies through the Mejorando la Salud de los Adolescentes initiative
  • Advocate for systems change
  • Evaluate and track data around the effectiveness of Growing Up Healthy’s work
  • Other duties as assigned



Required qualities for the Growing Up Healthy Assistant Coordinator include:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish – oral and written translation skills required
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours
  • Passion for equity and social justice


Preferred qualities for the Growing Up Healthy Assistant Coordinator include:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in community organizing
  • Experience supporting volunteers
  • Familiarity with Rice County organizations and resources
  • Experience grant writing and reporting
