Family Recovery Support Coordinator

The Family Recovery Support Coordinator will work with partner organizations to serve parents struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) to help them overcome barriers and move further down the path towards recovery. The Coordinator will coordinate services, provide support, and meet parents where they are, to promote wellness and recovery.

Tasks:

  • Work directly with partner agencies to receive and respond to referrals of identified parents struggling with SUD
  • Coordinate and conduct the community-based visits with clients
  • Connect and refer individuals with eligible community resources and social services, including assisting with required paperwork (as needed)
  • Provide case management and coordinate related services to families as needed
  • Provide follow-up with each individual for referrals made
  • Educate and promote about the Family Recovery Support initiative within the community
  • Identify barriers within local systems and regularly share this feedback with community organizations at bi-monthly meetings
  • Build effective relationships with individuals and organizations central to the work of the Family Recovery Support initiative and assist with organizing services provided to people suffering with SUD
  • Advocate for systems-level change
  • Evaluate and track data on the effectiveness of the Family Recovery Support initiative

Required qualities:

  • Certification or license in chemical health, mental health, social services or a related-field
  • Previous experience in individual family support
  • Ability to travel within Rice County
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong human relation skills to interact with parents and community agencies
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Maintain good professional boundaries with clients
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision
  • Capable of completing work on time in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Knowledge or experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorder
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours
  • Passion and patience for the process of recovery
  • Willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of the Family Recovery Support Initiative and the Healthy Community Initiative
  • Two years of freedom from chemical abuse problems
  • Maintenance of a cell phone is an expectation of employment

Preferred qualities:

  • Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor or Licensed Social Worker with experience in addiction
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field
  • Familiarity with Rice County organizations and resources
  • Experience managing team projects
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali
