Local youth spent after school time this week crafting colorful cards with messages for Northfield juniors and seniors that will attend the annual Prom in April. The student artists, in grades K-8, attend the Kid Ventures and PLUS after school programs through the Northfield School District and the Northfield School District Community Services Division.
The cards carry positive messages from community youth encouraging those attending prom to have fun, be safe and enjoy their prom in a healthy way. The cards will be handed out at local businesses that prom goers frequent prior to prom night, including hair and nail salons, florists and tuxedo rental shops.
The Prom Card Project is spearheaded by the Adult ResponsibilityCommittee of the Northfield Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use and Project SIGHT.
