Kudos to the Northfield Moravian Church for receiving the December HCI Making a Difference Award. Pastor Amy Gohdes-Luhman and the church congregation were nominated for planning and hosting a community forum in November to facilitate discussion around substance abuse and prevention. It has been great to see various community groups collaborate and keep the conversation on heroin and opiate use alive.
Northfield Hospital along with the Northfield Parent Communication Network and the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Alcohol & Drug Use will continue the dialogue with a free community discussion on addiction and community strategies on January 12, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Northfield Hospital. Charles Reznikoff, MD, an Addiction Medicine specialist at Northfield Hospital, will share information on signs, symptoms and prevention of opiate addictions.
