The Northfield Public Library offers books, videos, magazines and other materials with advice and information on parenting and child development.  The library also provides free internet computers and access to several online databases with parenting resources.  The First Steps Early Literacy Center provides a fun environment for babies and preschoolers to learn pre-literacy skills through play with their parent or care giver.  The library offers many preschool programs for ages birth – 5 years that encourage parents to talk, read and sing with their children in order to develop their children’s language skills.

Age Range of Clients Served:  All Ages

Hours:  Monday – Thursday 9:30 am – 9 pm;  Friday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm;  Saturday 9:30 am – 5 pm;  Sundays 1 – 5 pm - during the school year.

Fees:  None

Eligibility Information:  Use of the library and all its materials is free and open to all.  Most materials are available to check out with a library card.  Internet access available with a library card (library cards from all over the state of Minnesota are accepted).  Library programs free to everyone.

Capacity to Accommodate Clients who Speak Languages other than English:  Have access to Spanish language translator
